Prevention- The flu vaccine

Much of the illness and death caused by the influenza virus can be prevented by the annual influenza vaccination. Many individuals still do not have the knowledge or understand the importance or how to get the vaccine and also because at times, stocks can run out of the vaccine. There have been many miss-understandings of the vaccine in the public eye. The vaccine is given each year by an injection. People who are at high risk of getting the influenza virus are strongly recommended to get annual vaccination. These groups of people include:

· Aged over 65

· Chronic respiratory disease

· Chronic heart disease

· Chronic kidney disease

· Chronic liver disease

· Diabetes

· Chronic neurological disease

· Immunosuppression illness

High risk groups also include those working in public sector areas or those in contact with a number of different groups of people, for example : health care workers, those living in close proximity to others, gym environments, air conditioned areas or working.

The vaccine needs to be given each year, this is due to the clever fact that the virus changes continually by mutating. Therefore, each year, the vaccine changes according to the most up to date virus that is present. Also, once a person receives the vaccine, the effectiveness of the vaccine, reduces over time in an individual.

The vaccine should be taken around September of each year and it takes approximately 2 weeks for the beneficially effects of the vaccine to develop.

At an initial assessment, a full medical history is taken and your individual expectations are discussed. Dermal fillers work from the inside by adding volume a safe and long-lasting beauty lift, enhancing your natural features by smoothing out lines and wrinkles giving you a refreshed, softer appearance. Also known as the London Lip Princess, Dr Preema Vig has developed a technique for subtle lip enhancement and line plumping giving a natural result. Dermal fillers can create a natural-looking fullness and add definition of the outline of the mouth. Lips will not only appear more attractive and luscious, they will also feel healthier, softer and more hydrated. Dermal fillers are also used to plump cheeks, chin, nose to mouth lines, smokers lines, marionette lines, the jaw line and any static wrinkles. Dermal fillers may be used to plump larger surface areas of volume loss including the face, neck, and backs of hands. Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a non-animal synthetic clear gel which last between 6-9 months.

Dr Preema Vig also performs, the wrinkle zapping injections using Botox, Dysport and Azzalure. This treatment acts to relax local muscles such as those which create the crows feet, the worry lines of the brow and the frown lines in between the eyebrows. This treatment takes from 1-10 days to take effect and lasts from 3-6 months. This treatment can also be used to reduce perspiration (hyperhidrosis) in areas such as the underarms and palms
